The Family Life in Handsmill on Lake Wylie

Francine and Terence Freeman were one of the first families to move into the gated waterfront community of Handsmill on Lake Wylie. That was eight years ago and today the couple and their three daughters still love their gorgeous 5,800 square foot home and the natural beauty of the community.

The best part? Well, that was hard for Francine to narrow down!

“We have a large extended family that we like to have gatherings for”, says Francine who loves to cook. So, she says they wanted an open floor plan with a large kitchen and family room so they could easily entertain. And of course a large island for puzzle time!

The Freeman family definitely got the awesome kitchen they were looking for, which included top-of-the-line appliances, granite countertops, and plenty of space to enjoy one another’s company.

But it was the grand entrance that made Francine fall in love at first sight. She says the staircase is her favorite part of the home. The elegant architectural details are exquisite.

It all started when they first toured this stately stone and brick home and found that it met all their desires for their large family. It was a perfect combination of luxury and convenience. It was also just a nice short stroll from beautiful and serene Lake Wylie.

After they moved into their dream home, they also soon realized there were other wonderful benefits to living in Handsmill at Lake Wylie. The neighbors!

As more people move in, Francine says, a close knit community developed.

“We always do a trunk or treat for Halloween and bring pot luck dinners… We get together to roast marshmallows and hot dogs. We boat together and enjoy the lake.”

Francine says she just loves the neighbors and the sense of community.

The family often enjoys family gatherings and entertaining on their large deck, which is just off the family room. Their wooded backyard is a perfect spot to enjoy the natural setting in this community.

Living in the waterfront community of Handsmill on Lake Wylie, you have access to the South Marina. This impressive amenity boasts 28 boat slips, a boat ramp, and gated paved parking.
